Carers Leeds

Here at Blake, charitable work plays a large part in our identity, and we are committed to giving our support to a variety of local and national charities with substantial donations.

In March 2021 we donated £500 to Carers Leeds to put towards their digital inclusion project. We chose Careers Leeds as one of our staff members have been touched by the hard work of the group. Here Sharon, shares why she nominated this charity, and how it has had an effect on his life: "Carers Leeds have helped myself – when my mum was ill with Alzheimers & Dementia, and also a good friend of mine, when she was battling cancer".

Here is what Carers Leeds have said:

"We would like to thank you for choosing Carers Leeds as one of your charities. Donations to Carers Leeds will help us connect with many isolated carers by way of providing those carers with the digital kit to be able to enjoy the remote support and activity groups we are offering. Many carers tell us the social activities we now offer on line have been ‘ a life changer’. Whilst we will always find ways to support carers who through choice or circumstance are unable to connect digitally, the take up and interest in digital inclusion has been phenomenal. And we must build on this so we leave no carer behind. We will do all we can to make sure those who need the device and guidance to connect will be able to access it through donations which will make this possible. Every penny goes towards making this a reality for carers. Some of our most isolated carers have been affected by the pandemic and are struggling with their caring roles which have been intensified in the lockdown periods. By helping carers access iPads and broadband and support to connect, for example, more carers will benefit from better access to support services, information, advice and social activities which can help carers feel less alone".
