Delivering SchoolBags in Nepal

EXTENDING OUR SUPPORT IN NEPAL

Exciting news - next month we will be continuing to work with our partners at School In A Bag, delivering 114 School Bags to children in Nepal!

Here at Blake we do all we can to help those in need. Working alongside the wonderful School In A Bag charity, we are thrilled to be making a difference to the lives of poor, orphan, vulnerable and disaster affected children throughout the world with the ingenious solution of a SchoolBag.

Containing all the stationery, learning resources and eating utensils needed to attend school and receive an education, we believe that we are giving these children what could be their passport out of a life of hardship and poverty.

COLLABORATING WITH HELP

In carrying out this project we will be collaborating with our partners at HELP, the Helambu Education and Livelihood Partnership, who will help us to get the School Bags we have sponsored to children at the Shree Ganesh Basic School. This school has the only female headmaster in the whole of the Paanch Pokhari region, so we are very excited to be supporting her in her efforts!

The village of Paanch Pokhari where the school is situated is inhabited mostly by the Gerung community, one of the ethnic minorities in Nepal, and has a population of approximately 500 people, with 127 of these attending the school. This village is within the Helambu area, an area that is still struggling to rebuild itself after the tragic results of the severe earthquake of the 25th April 2015, which killed almost 9,000 people and injured a further 22,000.

As government provision for education is very scarce here, the HELP organisation is dedicated to improving the quality of education in the remote village schools, working closely with communities and education authorities for sustainable results and villager empowerment.

We are incredibly excited about this new project and the chance to work with such a brilliant group as HELP.

We’ll be sharing pictures of the children and school on our Projects page soon, so keep in touch for more updates!
