Here at Blake, charitable work plays a key part in our identity, and we are committed to giving our support to a variety of local and national charities with substantial donations.
On Monday 8th April, we presented a cheque for £500 to Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance. This excellent charity was established to provide relief from sickness and injury for the people of Dorset and Somerset.
“To provide the maximum patient benefit by delivering the most effective, clinically excellent and financially secure air ambulance service in the South West Region.”
About the Charity
Since their launch in 2000, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance have flown thousands of missions, often attending up to eight or nine incidents in a single day, doing invaluable work saving lives with their air ambulance service and road-delivered critical care capability.
With their airbase strategically located at Henstridge Airfield on the Dorset/Somerset border, they are able to be at any point within these two counties in under 20 minutes, when their helicopter can then take a patient to the nearest Major Trauma Centre in the South West in another 20 minutes, if required.
Their operational costs are over £3.5 million a year. As they receive no direct funding from the government, they are entirely dependent on the generosity of the public for support, so Blake were very happy to be able to help.
