This year three members of the Blake team are taking part in the Climb of Life which takes place on the 6th November. Nigeland his son Josh, Alun and his daughter Mollie and Vickie and her partner Chris will be joining a group of ten teams climbing some of the highest peaks in England to raise money for the Institute of Cancer Research.
The Challenge involves over 100 people from across the UK office supplies industry climbing England’s highest peaks over difficult terrain and in tough weather conditions. During November, snow and ice is common above 1500ft but the Blake team are looking forward to the challenge. This year the ten teams will be climbing a different peak such as Nethermost Pike and Outerside to spell out “NO TO CANCER”.
Nigel has taken part in the event for over 20 years and says, “This event is very close to my heart. My best fishing buddy is currently fighting cancer and if I can help in a small way to raise funds to help eradicate this awful disease, then the effort and discomfort of the climb is a very small price to pay." This year will be the 28th year of the Climb of Life and for the last 18 years it has managed to raise more money than the previous year which is an amazing feat! The challenge of trying to raise more money each year is what keeps the participants motivated and last year’s total of £100,157 will be a tough one to beat.
The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), is a world class cancer research organisation and a leading higher education institution, being a college of the University of London. They discover more cancer treatment drugs than any other academic centre globally and are ranked in the top four cancer treatment and research centres in the world. Blake is very pleased to support such a worthwhile event for such a great cause. We wish our team the best of luck!Posted: 12/10/15 by Blake
