Romania Orphanage Notecard Project
As part of their visit to an orphanage in Gura Humurolui, North-Eastern Romania, at the end of last year, Darby and Tim, members of our team, were able to meet a wonderful group of children who were being cared for by the orphanage as a result of suffering abuse, abandonment, or losing their parents.
During their stay, they had the pleasure of working with these children on a notecard project…
Providing blank notecards and colouring equipment, they set up a creative workshop and asked the children to think about what Romania meant to them personally and what their favourite things were about living there, and then represent this on their card.
The children thoroughly enjoyed this challenge, and astounded us with their beautiful designs!
See below the feedback we received from Nicoleta Stiglet, a child at the orphanage:
“I consider the workshop important to my evolution because I managed to prove that I am talented and I put passion in everything I do. The workshop taught me to be a better person and have more confidence in myself day by day. It motivated me no end to learn that my work is not pointless. Thanks for all!”(translated)
The cards designed by these children are now being sold by the Blake Foundation to raise funds for the orphanage.
Every pack of cards sold will help us as we seek to improve the lives of these children.
